Workflows Advanced

Professional AI video production rarely involves a single tool in isolation. This lesson covers how to chain Runway tools together into production pipelines, integrate with traditional editing software, manage versions, collaborate with teams, and build repeatable creative workflows.

Multi-Tool Pipeline

A typical production workflow chains multiple Runway tools and external software:

  1. Concept

Generate concept art with Runway's image generation or Midjourney/DALL-E

  2. Animate

Use Gen-3 Alpha (image-to-video) to bring concept art to life

  3. Refine Motion

Apply Motion Brush for precise control over specific elements

  4. Add Speech

Generate TTS audio, then apply Lip Sync to characters

  5. Edit

Import clips into DaVinci Resolve, Premiere Pro, or Final Cut for final editing

  6. Polish

Color grade, add sound design, music, and titles in your NLE

Version Management

AI generation is non-deterministic — you will produce many variants before finding the right one. Implement a naming convention for generations:

Naming Convention: Use [project]_[scene]_[tool]_v[number] format. Example: hero_forest_gen3_v04. Save successful prompts alongside files so you can reproduce or iterate on winning generations.

Team Collaboration

Runway's team features allow shared workspaces where multiple creators can access the same assets, generations, and project folders. Assign roles (admin, editor, viewer) to control who can generate content versus who can only review and comment.

Batch Production

For projects requiring many similar clips (e.g., product showcase series), create a template prompt and systematically vary the subject while keeping style, camera, and atmosphere consistent. Document your prompt library for reuse across projects.
